Jessica Illuzzi, MD
 |
Jessica Illuzzi, MD, graduated from Harvard Medical School and completed OB/GYN residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Her background in biochemistry with thesis work focusing on the structure and function of G proteins and her fascination with the scientific underpinnings of modern epidemiology and evidenced-based medicine drew her to the WRHR program. Her current work focuses on evaluating the duration of intrapartum antibiotic prophylaxis to prevent neonatal group B streptococcal disease and includes a systematic review, case-control study, prospective cohort study, as well as decision modeling and cost-effectiveness analysis. Dr. Illuzzi works with mentor, Michael B. Bracken, Susan Dwight Bliss Professor of Epidemiology and Director of the Center for Perinatal, Pediatric, and Environmental Epidemiology at Yale University and under his direction has pursued further training in statistical epidemiology. She finds great potential in the opportunity to be involved with both the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences. Dr. Illuzzi also serves as the assistant director of the Yale University School of Medicine Clerkship in Obstetrics and Gynecology; she regularly lectures, leads seminars, and is actively involved in curriculum design with strong emphasis on evidenced-based teaching in obstetrics and gynecology.
