Diabetes in Pregnancy
Nancy Nickless, RN, CDE and
Katie Sullivan, APRN
The Yale Diabetes in Pregnancy Program provides essential comprehensive services for diabetic women before, during, and after pregnancy. Our expert team of physicians, diabetic educators, and advanced practice nurse will help initiate and manage oral hypoglycemic and insulin therapies to ensure optimal glycemic control in your pregnant patients with diabetes. Our team approach has resulted in significant decreases in our patients' hemoglobin A1c, rates of fetal macrosomia, and incidence of pregnancy complications.
Although it is widely known that hyperglycemia at conception is teratogenic, pre-conceptional glycemic control is often overlooked. For your pre-gestational diabetic patients, we welcome and encourage pre-conceptional consultations, and will collaborate with your patient's endocrinologist to optimize glycemic control before pregnancy.
In addition, although the focus of our efforts are concentrated on diabetes, consultation and management of all other endocrinologic disorders will always be available through this program.
The members of the Diabetes in Pregnancy Program are happy to discuss any issues or difficulties you may have with pregnant or non-pregnant patients. To contact Dr. Christina Han or to schedule your patients, please call (203) 785-5682.
